Team Hammer, Inc., is racing Honda motorcycles in 2014 as M4 Motorcycle Road Racing with Chris Ulrich #18 in AMA Pro Superbike and with Joe Roberts #2 in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike. Team Hammer also is providing Honda racebikes, mechanics, transportation and logistical support under contract to Chris Ulrich Racing’s GEICO Motorcycle Road Racing program with rider Jake Zemke #98 in AMA Pro Daytona SportBike.

Team Hammer prepares, races and supports the Honda CBR600RR in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class. The CBR600RR’s 599cc, liquid-cooled engine features a bore and stroke of 67mm x 42.5mm and a 12.2:1 compression ratio, and breathes through an M4 titanium racing exhaust. Suspension front and rear is by Ohlins, with a TTX rear shock and Ohlins NIX 30mm fork cartridges. Bodywork is by Hotbodies Racing, and Vortex provides rearset footpegs and hard-anodized, aluminum-alloy sprockets.

Team Hammer runs the Honda CBR1000RR in the AMA Pro Superbike class. The 999cc inline four-cylinder engine, with a 76mm x 55.1 mm bore and stroke and 12.3:1 compression ratio, is built to Superbike spec and puts out well over 190 bhp at the rear wheel. A Bazzaz Z-Fi unit provides engine management, and Team Hammer installs an M4 titanium racing exhaust. The big CBR1000RR’s standard 43mm inverted front forks are fitted with Ohlins gas-charged racing cartridges, and on the Superbikes the standard triple clamps are replaced with team-developed and manufactured clamps featuring adjustable offsets. An Ohlins TTX rear racing shock and an HRC racing kit rear linkage is added to the Superbikes.

Team Hammer relies on the superior wind protection and streamlining provided by Hotbodies Racing’s double-bubble windscreens and affordable, lightweight fiberglass bodywork. Vortex controls also are used on all machines. Vortex hard-anodized aluminum-alloy sprockets efficiently transfer power from the engine to the rear wheel. For superior stopping power, Team Hammer uses SBS dual-carbon and dual-sintered brake pads front and rear.

Team Hammer is supported by M4 Performance Exhaust Systems, a company originally founded by former Team Hammer lead rider Michael Martin, his father Robert and his two brothers Richard and Robert, which equals four Martin family members, or M4. Richard Martin and his son Kyle Martin now own and run the company, working closely with Team Hammer’s Keith Perry on the R&D for each dyno-developed system used by the team. M4 Performance Exhaust Systems are built using with stainless steel or titanium construction to provide light weight, long life and good looks, and come with aluminum or stainless steel spigots. Most models have tapered head pipes and O-ring spigot seals, and all have polished stainless steel or titanium silencer end caps and tail pipes. Full race systems and slip-on or bolt-on mufflers are available in a choice of polished aluminum, black aluminum, carbon-fiber or oval titanium.
