Scott Harwell came to Team Hammer with over a dozen years of road racing experience and over 14 Championships between WERA, CCS and Formula USA. Harwell started endurance racing in 1994 and branched out into sprint racing in 2000, finding success riding for several Suzuki-supported teams. In August of 2005, Harwell crashed at Summit Point Raceway, breaking his leg and dislocating his hip. In 2006, he had a total hip replacement, and decided that he would give up racing in favor of wrenching, though he still rides on the racetrack when he gets the chance. Harwell Joined Team Hammer in 2006 and was assigned to the Contract Services Department, working with Team Roadracingworld.com Suzuki. Harwell used his riding experience and mechanical talent to speed the development of AMA newcomer Robertino Pietri during the 2006 and 2007 racing seasons. A jack of all trades, Harwell can handle any job, from building bikes to
driving one of the team’s 18-wheelers. For 2010, Harwell worked with
multi-time Colombian National Champion Santiago Villa in Daytona
SportBike as well as with SuperSport rookie Elena Myers.
For 2011, Harwell is Crew Chief for the #21 SuzukiScoopFans Racing
GSX-R600 fielded by M4 Suzuki and ridden by Elena Myers in AMA Pro
SuperSport.
