Mike Canfield - Mechanic

Over the past 10 years, Mike Canfield and his all-around mechanical skills have proven to be invaluable assets to Team M4 Monster Energy Suzuki. A rider working with Canfield can focus strictly on his riding, knowing that whatever task Canfield has been assigned is going to be taken care of properly and without drama.

Canfield is a licensed aviation mechanic, but got his start working on racebikes the same way many others have - wrenching on his own machines when he began road racing in 1987. Realizing that he had more talent as a mechanic than as a rider, Canfield started his own tuning business in 1991 and his career grew from there.

Canfield joined Team Hammer as a "fly-in" mechanic in 2000, a role he's filled ever since. He's assigned a rider and takes care of anything that needs to be done in order for that rider to achieve the best results possible. Over the years Canfield has worked with Grant Lopez, Tom Kipp, Ben Spies, Steve Rapp, Vincent Haskovec and Michael Barnes.

The versatile Sacramento, California native has played a significant role in a number of notable achievements, chief among them Vincent Haskovec's unforgettable Superstock win at Daytona in 2005.

Canfield has worked with Martin Cardenas since 2007 and is again working with Cardenas during the 2010 season.
