Kipp Signs With Valvoline EMGO Suzuki
Tom Kipp has signed to ride in the AMA Formula Xtreme and 600cc Supersport Series for Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki in 2002.Kipp, 32, raced in 2001 as a replacement rider for another team, winning the Formula Xtreme race at Mid-Ohio and fnishing second at Pikes Peak.

Hopkins Wins AMA Formula Xtreme Championship
Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki's John Hopkins won the AMA Formula Xtreme Championship by finishing fourth in the final race of the 2001 season, at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) Saturday, September 29.His teammate, Grant Lopez, finished second in the race and third in season points.Young Californian Hopkins, 18, rode a GSX-R1000 prepared and fielded by Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki.

Josh Hayes Signs With Valvoline EMGO Suzuki Again
Josh Hayes has signed a contract with Team Hammer, Inc., racing as Vavoline EMGO Suzuki, to compete in the AMA Formula Xtreme and 600cc Supersport Series in 2002.Hayes rode for the team from 1996 through 1999, co-riding to the 1996 and 1997 WERA National Endurance Championships, winning the 1998 Formula USA Pro Sport Championship, winning the 1998 WERA National Challenge Series 600cc Superstock Championship, winning the 1997 GSX-R1100 Suzuki Cup Final and winning the 1998 GSX-R1100 and GSX-R600 Suzuki Cup Finals.

It All Goes Wrong For Lopez At Pocono
Defending Formula USA Unlimited Superbike Champion Grant Lopez crashed during practice at Pocono International Raceway late Tuesday afternoon and was transported to a local hospital via helicopter.The use of a helicopter to transport unconscious riders is standard procedure for the raceway.

Team Regroups For Big End-of-season Push
Team Valvoline EMGO Suzuki is regrouping for a big end-of-season push in the AMA and F-USA motorcycle racing series, with action scheduled to resume in two weeks.The August 24-26 weekend will be a critical one for the team, with both an AMA National at Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado and a Formula USA National at Pocono International Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania happening at the same time.Grant Lopez will practice at Pocono on Monday, August 20, then fly to Pikes Peak, practice, qualify and compete in the AMA Formula Xtreme race on Saturday, August 25, fly back to Pocono Saturday night, practice Sunday morning and take a provisional start in the first of two Formula USA races at Pocono.Meanwhile, John Hopkins and Ben Spies will concentrate on the AMA races at Pikes Peak.

Hopkins Second Again In AMA Formula Xtreme At Brainerd, Cutting Points Gap to 13
Team Valvoline EMGO Suzukiís John Hopkins finished second in AMA action at Brainerd International Raceway and cut the points gap in the Formula Xtreme Championship chase to just 13 points with three rounds and about 111 points still in play in the season.Hopkins led most of the race but was passed in the final corner and just beaten to the line by half-a-wheel-length.
